Société Française de Vierzon were the producers of a wide range of agricultural machinery. The company was founded by Celestino Gérard, born in 1821, worked as a carpenter and devoted himself to repairing farm machinery. He built a threshing machine for his father pulled by animals, his skill and ingenuity led him to found in 1848 a workshop in Vierzon (France).
In the following years produced threshing machines and various agricultural implements. From 1861 began the manufacturing of steam. The company continued grow and in 1878 became the Société Française de Vierzon.
in 1898 introduced the first internal combustion engine. In 1931 began the manufacture of tractors, tractor model first presented by the company was the Vierzon H0. in 1934 built their first tractor in series, the H1 with 38 hp gearbox with three speeds and a capacity of 3 10.335cm. The vast majority of SFV tractors were semi-horizontal two-stroke diesel based on Lanz bulldog of a single cylinder.
Vierzon's name was removed after World War II and subsequent versions were marketed as "SFV." From 1947 launch new models to market, as the Vierzon FV1 with slight variations in the pre-war models. In 1948 production was about 170 per month in 1955 had built more than 5000 machines of all kinds.
Between 1953 and 1959 produced one of the most popular models, was the Vierzon 201, with new bodywork, electric starter and series hydraulic elevator. It was very manageable, weighed 1100 kg. Its engine was rated at 18 hp, a displacement of 3,209 cm 3 , starts on gasoline and once the proper temperature citadel with diesel. Its gearbox five gears allowed a speed of 19 km per hour.
During the 1930 to mid 1950, these tractors were prized for their strength and robustness, but in the middle of this decade the products of other competitors were much more attractive to buyers. Despite an attempt to catch up with a new range of tractors with Peugeot engine and other brands, and entry into the U.S. Society CASE company, these strategies were too late and the company closed in early 1960.
