Creative solutions: starting point for a story

Gianni Rodari
in his book Grammar of fantasy tells of a creative technique "The binomial fantastic." He recommends choosing two random words that are strange enough from each other and implement the imagination to find a relationship between them. Build a fantastic set in which to live two unusual items.
Take for example the word dog - closet and play and try combinations of phrases with articles and prepositions:

The dog with the cabinet
dog
The cabinet
The dog on the cabinet
The dog in the closet

Each shape offers a fantastic location, the raw material for a story. What remains now is to write short stories based on what each title suggests, deeper and more interesting story to illustrate!

Learning to tell stories with Gianni Rodari

Grammar of Fantasy is not a writing manual, not a set of recipes that will teach the reader to write for art magic, are not. The book is rather a collection of stories, experiences and real and imagined situations that help to override the art of creativity, the human capacity that allows us to invent stories, create and innovate situations end of so many other stories, an endless under of possibilities when we sat down to write.

In Grammar of Fantasy, Gianni Rodari based exhibits and a new proposal for the infant grammar, one based on imagination and creativity for children to create their own stories and learn to harness the potential of word.

As the author tells it in the first pages, the book is the result of a number of talks that has been sustaining to seek new options for storytelling, especially for children. The author is expected to say that Grammar is not intended Fantasy be a new approach to teaching in schools far from a new educational theory, or even a trial. Simply states the author, are some recommendations on how to do to encourage youngsters to create stories, different ways

The author is looking for sit-between the lines, the importance of imagination learning, in this case for the little ones learn to create their own stories, from the use of words. Words must charge the highest possible meaning in context, and out of it as the ability to create permits. The intention is to foster the imagination as part of the learning process and match it to the adventure of playing, because ultimately, the entire process focuses on the game, one for children to express their creativity telling new stories, some created from existing stories or simply experience or experiences that are the initial engine of a possible great adventure to tell.

The book is set in 44 subtitles, each of them is a proposal to the imagination, gives us different ways to make children develop their imagination through various games that encourage the generation of new words, new stories. An interesting process is how the author generates in each story open participation of the reader in the stories, either a child or young adult who read, the book has the license to be a tool to bridge the gap between reality and imagination.

certainly very useful book for teachers, those responsible for encouraging the reading and allow proper learning in children, but it is a book that also extends to captivate those who have no interest in teaching or engage children. The reader can take reading to enhance their possibilities for creating situations to write, is it a wonderful reference for those who wish to start in writing.

mechanisms and recommendations that he provides to develop the imagination are contextualized in a course for children, which does not preclude the same tools can be used as an exercise to practice of creativity in most adults.

An interesting part in the book is titled Folktales as raw material in this section the author proposed as a way of teaching children creative teaching, the use of classic tales with Little Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio to start a story. Based first use of the traditions as sources for stories in the history of mankind, then further develops the idea of \u200b\u200bchanging stories already known. The next chapter starts it tells the story of the Yellow Riding Hood, "yellow?, Yes, yellow and uses it as a representation of an old game known as wrong stories, where children play should alter the history of a familiar story, changing characters situations, names and all that imagination can be changed.

Another way to play with existing tales, tells the author, is the ability to count backwards, this practice is simply to switch roles between the characters, ie it is the wolf who has the basket Grandma and Little Red Riding Hood who tries to eat the hapless wolf, who is the grandfather that your nose grows in every lie I say and Pinocchio who must seek to rescue him from the dangers it drives. This kind of play interest awakens the child's ability to create new situations, teach the child to change what had already heard so many times and can change through your imagination.

Another interesting game that presents the author is to relate the logic with imagination, how to do it, simple, the author proposes the definition of real or imaginary in the various stories and tales known, each with its own characteristics, such as the glass man, this character is recognized in one of many children's stories, but how may develop a new history of the same character?, as from its own characteristics.

We use logic to deduce the conditions of a character, and will be the starting point for generating stories or situations, for example, if we analyze the character saying it is glass, so transparent therefore fragile and consequently a range of colors can also be washable.

These four characteristics can help us put together an interesting story, and draw many ideas, for example, if the character is made of glass and therefore transparent, we can tell a story in which the glass man had many drawbacks because people could read his thoughts, his mind was clear and then all the people could know what they thought, so that you can not never tell lies.

Grammar of Fantasy retains a soul learning to tell stories for children, is a book based on the imagination and as the author himself says Gianni Rodari is a proposal to try to enrich the environment children's learning.
